Well
done to all our riders who competed at the RDA National Championships at
Hartpury (July 12 -14). We had 11 riders
there this year (it should have been 12 but poor Chloe dislocated her shoulder
the day before the competition started), and they all put in good
performances. We ended up with three
National Champions (Olivia and Eleanor in dressage and Lizzie in vaulting), a
heap impressive placings and, most important, we all had a good time.
It
was particularly good to have four riders and a volunteer competing in the East Region vaulting
team this year, and I congratulate Lizzie Bennett on training the team and
putting together such an entertaining programme (and thank you Kate Lawrence
for making the costumes), which was great fun and much enjoyed by the
spectators. Well done East Region team
for their second place, and well Lizzie for winning your individual class.
Olivia
Cornick claimed the Grade 4 dressage championship on a borrowed horse (Brandy) which
was well deserved. Eleanor Currington’s
show jumping win in the Level 3 competition was also a terrific result, gained
through sheer determination as much as riding skill (especially at the last
fence!).
There
were lots of good results, and even those who didn’t win a rosette did a great
job. Many thanks and congratulations, too, to all our wonderful helpers and horses.
